Big Rocks

One day, an expert in time management was speaking to a group of students and, to drive home a point, used an illustration those student will never forget.

As he stood in front of the group of overachievers, he said, "OK, time for quiz." He pulled out a one-gallon, wide mouth jar and set it on the table in front of him. He also produced about a dozen fist-sized rocks and carefully placed them, one at a time, into the jar. When the jar was filled to the top and no more rocks would fit inside, he asked, "Is this jar full?"

The Potter

Once there was a very religious and skillful potter whose pottery was well-known far and wide.
However, he was not satisfied with his finely crafted but fragile pottery. He thought if the pottery made by him could be unbreakable, his reputation and his business will be even better.

He prayed hard to God to grant his wish for unbreakable pottery. One night, he dreamt that God said to him, "If you sure you won't regret it, I will make your wish come true."

Life Struggle

Once upon a time in a land far far away, there was a wonderful old man who loved everything. Animal, spiders, insects...

One day while walking through the woods the nice old man found a cocoon of a butterfly. He took it home.
A few days later, a small opening appeared; he sat and watched the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body through that little hole. Then it seem to top making any progress. It appears as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could go no farther.
Then the man decide to help the butterfly, so he took a pair of scissors and snipped of the remaining bit of the cocoon.
The butterfly then emerge easily.

The Brick In Your Life

A young and successful executive was travelling down a neighbourhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something.
As his car passed, one child appeared, and a brick smashed into the Jag's side door. He slammed on the brakes and spuns the Jaguar back to the spot from where the brick had been throw.

Making Sandcastle

A little boy is on his knees scooping and packing the sand with plastic shovels into a bright blue bucket. Then he upends the bucket on the surface and lifts it. And, to the delight of the little architect, a castle tower is created.
All afternoon he will work, scooping out the moat and package the walls. Bottle tops will be sentries. Sticks will be bridges. A sandcastle will be built.

Bend, but don't break

One of my fondest memories as a child is going by the river and sitting idly in the bank. There i would enjoy the peace and quiet, watch the water rush downstream, and listen to the chirps of birds and the rustling of leaves in the trees. I would also watch the bamboo trees bend under presurre from the wind and watch them return gracefully to their upright after the wind had died down.

Keep Your Fork

There was a woman who had been diagnosed with a terminal illness and was given three months to live. As she began getting her things 'in order', she asked for her pastor to come to her house to discuss certain aspects of her final wishes. She told him which songs she wanted sung at the service and what dress she wanted to be buried in. Everthing was in order and as the pastor was preparing to leave, the woman suddenly remembered one thing, she said excitedly. "This is very important to me," the woman continued, "I want to be buried holding fork in my right hand." The pastor was gazed at the woman, at a loss for words.

Summon up courage

There were two man both decided to get a horse. One man found a red horse with much spirit. The other choose one more docile. They would go riding together everyday. It so happened on the route they would take around the countryside, there was a ditch about eight or nine feet wide, after a time it was apparent that the red horse up to his gap in the trail he hurled it the first time.
Because of the spirit in him he was quick to respond and jumped it with no problems. Yet the more docile horse would balk everytime he came to the edge. He wasn't sure of the distance; he would stand on the edge trembling with indecision and doubt because the distance to him looked to great.

The Rose Within

A certain man planted a rose and watered it faithfully and before it blossome, he examined it. He saw the bud that would soon blosso, but noticed thorns upon the stem and he thought, "How can any beautiful flower come from a plant burdened with so many sharp thorns?" Saddened buy this thought, he neglected to water the rose, and just before it was ready to bloom, it died.

Follow your dream

There was a young man born in a poor family. As a result, his school career was continually interrupted. Once he was asked to write apaper about what he wanted to be and do when he grew up. That night, he wrote seven-page paper describing his goal of someday owning a horse ranch. He wrote about his dream in great detail and he even drew a diagram of a 200-acre ranch. Then he drew a detailed floor plan for a 4,000-square-foot house that would sit on a 200-acre dream ranch. He put great deal of his heart into the project and the next day, he handed it to his teacher. Two days later, he received his paper back. On the front page was a large red F with a note that read, "See me after class."
